Welcome to GHYSER, a global pioneer in the production of green hydrogen. Headquartered in Malta, EU, we are the first company globally to commercialize offshore production of green hydrogen, leveraging the immense power of the ocean to provide innovative and sustainable energy solutions.

Christopher Adams
Co‒Founder / CEO
Christopher, a renowned German technology innovator, holds expertise in microelectronics, micromechanics, AI algorithms, and frequency physics, leading to numerous patents. With decades of engineering experience, he played a key role in developing technologies like the Supercritical CO₂ Extraction Plant for the Heydari Group. His work on the Gibson Robot Guitar was even recognized and awarded by Bill Gates. He also has extensive experience in designing manufacturing plants, production lines, and complete factories.
Dr. Hans Wolfram Kessler
Board Member
Wolf is a seasoned international lawyer with two decades of experience across diverse jurisdictions. Armed with a PhD in international law, he has primarily focused on the online industry, participating in various projects in the Middle East. His extensive international network and deep understanding of emerging technologies, science, and the accompanying legal and regulatory challenges make him an invaluable asset to our project.

Anthony is an architect and urban planner with decades of experience in property development and sustainable planning. He played a pivotal role in MASDAR CITY's development in Abu Dhabi and held leadership positions at Sorouh Real Estate PJSC. With a background in Sasaki Associates and Hart Howerton, he's been instrumental in projects spanning the globe.

Ghyser was founded in 2021 by Christopher Adams, a visionary German engineer with over 30 years of experience. In his career he created more than 50 patented technologies that push boundaries. For many of his inventions he has earned wide recognition.
Christopher recognized the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions and saw the massive potential of leveraging offshore infrastructure to enable the global energy transition. He developed a novel method that has achieved major efficiency gains in tests to increase green hydrogen production. This breakthrough technology can enable affordable, renewable hydrogen at scale.
As CEO, Christopher leads Ghyser with a game-changing approach of strategic vision and innovative thinking. He assembled an experienced team of offshore energy experts, renewable engineers, electrolysis specialists, and business leaders.

In addition to the production of renewable hydrogen, an important aspect of our mission is the restoration of our oceans through the release of oxygen. Some of the oxygen produced is returned to the ocean and improves the quality of marine life. Just as the ocean provides for us, we are determined to give back and create a sustainable cycle. We are committed to utilizing the earth's resources, regardless of their origin, and putting that energy back into the cycle by promoting green and environmentally friendly practices.
At the heart of Ghyser's vision is an unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and supporting communities around the world. Our production process generates two invaluable by-products: nutrient-rich brine from seawater desalination and organic waste, including algae. These resources are carefully recycled to produce highly valuable agricultural inputs. The resulting combination of organic and brine-derived fertilizers not only increases crop yields and quality, but also drastically reduces the environmental impact of farming. In addition, our decentralized production model strengthens coastal regions with limited arable land and groundwater resources, enabling agricultural self-sufficiency.
Furthermore, we utilize the daily production of 10 million liters of freshwater to irrigate arid areas, facilitating desert reclamation, promoting biodiversity, and effectively combating the devastating consequences of desertification for local communities.
Our closed-loop resource recovery system not only drives progress in renewable energy, but also serves as a catalyst for sustainable development. This comprehensive approach strengthens food security, enhances environmental well-being and improves the overall quality of life for coastal populations. This seamless connection between industry and the environment embodies our overarching vision of clean technology that coexists harmoniously with nature.

By converting end of life offshore oil and gas rigs into multi-purpose floating renewable energy plants, we can install desalination and electrolysis systems on thousands of rigs worldwide. This allows us to produce zero-emission hydrogen from offshore wind, solar and wave energy at the scale required to achieve net zero emissions.
Ghyser's innovative electrolyzer efficiency improvements increase productivity and improve cost competitiveness. The monetization of all by-products generates revenue streams that ensure a positive return on investment.
Our goal is to demonstrate that by combining pragmatic solutions and innovation, we can repurpose existing infrastructure to accelerate the renewable energy revolution. This paradigm shift will enable humanity to achieve true sustainability in all dimensions by 2050.
Our Process
Pioneering Sustainable Innovation
At Ghyser, we are pioneering innovative technologies and methodologies to demonstrate that economic growth and environmental sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Our renewable energy process sustains ocean health while enabling the hydrogen economy.
Giving Oil Rigs Renewable Purpose Over 5,900 offshore oil and gas platforms are slated for decommissioning by 2030. This process carries an $80 billion price tag and generates millions of tons of carbon emissions. Ghyser transforms these rigs into sustainable hydrogen production hubs. Our solution outfits platforms with electrolyzers, desalination systems, renewables equipment, and storage tanks. In just 12-18 months, our modular conversion transforms aging infrastructure into green energy assets. Instead of costly disposal, oil rigs find new life fueling the renewable future.
1. Green Hydrogen Production
• We utilize high efficiency PEM electrolyzers powered by offshore wind, wave, and solar energy
• Desalinated seawater is split into hydrogen and oxygen
• Our electrolyzers add-on technology leverage a patent-pending efficiency enhancement to lower the cost of green hydrogen production
• This renewable hydrogen can displace fossil fuels across transportation, heating, and power generation
2. Green Oxygen
• For every kg of hydrogen produced, 8 kg of oxygen is created as a byproduct
• This green oxygen is used to replace industrial grey oxygen production, saving 10 tons of CO2 per ton replaced
• Additional oxygen is released to surface waters, increasing dissolved oxygen levels
• Higher oxygenation accelerates the breakdown of pollutants and revitalizes marine ecosystems
3. Freshwater
• Each rig produces around 10 million liters of fresh desalinated water daily
• This water can be used to irrigate nearby coastal agriculture or inland deserts via pipelineshe freshwater serves as a strategic reserve contributing to regional water security
• Access to abundant freshwater unlocks development potential for local communities
• The freshwater production is equivalent to the water consumption of 85,000 people
• This provides a new sustainable source of potable water in water-stressed regions

4. Brine Recycling
• The brine leftover from desalination contains valuable minerals and compounds
• We recover resources like magnesium, lithium, gallium through crystallization and extraction
• The brine is recycled into fertilizer products and freshwater using zero-liquid discharge technology
• This eliminates a waste stream while creating economic value and strategic reserves

Donating Brine-Based Fertilizer:

Our platforms are ideally positioned to take advantage of strong, consistent offshore winds. Mooring chains stabilize the turbines to take advantage of wave energy
The open ocean receives more consistent sunlight than land areas, which are subject to day/night cycles and weather fluctuations.
As a result, our optional offshore solar plants benefit from uniform solar radiation, which increases the capacity factors.
The location close to demand centers on the coast minimizes transmission losses.
Shorter transportation routes of hydrogen to end users reduce delivery costs and emissions.
We strategically deploy our drifting or fixed platforms to facilitate clean energy production and hydrogen transportation.
If the conditions of the plant change during its 30-year lifespan, the Ghyser platform can be relocated to maintain the optimal position.
This flexibility ensures maximum production of renewable energy as markets evolve.
